A Pipedrive alternative for magazine publishers
Pipedrive makes sense when the immediate job is to see deals, organise follow-up and keep sales moving. A magazine team also has to know what the advertiser bought in each issue, when the material is due and what production and finance should do next. Compare those connected jobs before replacing a pipeline that your sales team already uses well.

What Pipedrive says about its product
Pipedrive says “Kick your sales into gear” and describes its pipeline: “Customize the stages to suit your sales cycle, create team pipelines and filter results by team member or stage.” Source: Pipedrive sales product page, retrieved . Its pricing page lists full email synchronisation, workflow automation and nurturing sequences from Growth; subscription and instalment product tracking and revenue forecasts; and quotes, proposals, contracts and e-signatures in Premium. Last published pricing we could read ()
| Plan | EUR per seat / month, billed annually | EUR per seat / month, billed monthly |
|---|---|---|
| Lite | €14 | €24 |
| Growth | €39 | €49 |
| Premium | €59 | €79 |
| Ultimate | €79 | €99 |
The annual subscription is charged once for the full year: Lite at the displayed annual rate is €168 per seat per year, not a €14 month-to-month contract. Prices exclude VAT. We did not establish a minimum seat commitment. The public page offers a 14-day trial without a credit card. LeadBooster, Projects, Campaigns, Web Visitors and Smart Docs appear as add-on offers; their cards did not establish every billing unit and period, so their headline amounts are not added into a supposed all-in monthly price here. Premium already lists lead routing and contracts with e-signatures, so on that plan they are not necessarily extra purchases.

Where RunMags works differently for magazine publishers
Pipedrive explicitly supports subscription and instalment products and revenue forecasting. That is useful recurring-revenue functionality; it is not the same evidence as reader circulation, first and last issue, an issue distribution list or production-ready ad placements. Custom pipeline fields can store issue names and deadlines, but demonstrate how a multi-issue agreement reaches the flatplan and the invoice without a second spreadsheet.
A generic CRM does not know your magazine's issues, ad dimensions, rate cards, flatplan, material deadlines, reader subscriptions or issue-based invoicing until someone models and connects them. Without that work, staff can end up bolting on spreadsheets to carry the details after a deal is won. This is a workflow-design risk, not proof that the vendor cannot serve publishers.
RunMags connects advertiser and agency contacts, proposals and signed contracts to issue-specific ad bookings. Signed print bookings appear in the issue's flatplan; advertiser invoices come from the booked issues. Subscriptions and issue distribution lists sit alongside the customer records. Compare magazine advertising sales and bookings, the connected issue flatplan, magazine subscriptions and publisher invoicing. Advertiser invoices and credit notes sync to Fortnox, QuickBooks Online or Xero per legal entity; subscription invoices do not use that accounting sync. RunMags has no inventory holds or double-booking guard, no opportunity pipeline with win probability, and no email or calendar sync. Your team runs the subscription renewal batch; RunMags does not yet schedule automatic renewals or retry failed card payments.
When Pipedrive may be the better fit
Pipedrive may be the better fit if a small or growing sales team chiefly needs a clear visual pipeline, reliable email follow-up and configurable automation, and already has satisfactory publishing and accounting tools. Its lower published entry price can be relevant when the requirement is sales CRM alone. A large sales organisation can also choose a generic CRM when sales-process control matters more than adopting one publishing workflow. Heavy marketing automation needs its own evaluation; do not treat a sales pipeline or a Campaigns add-on name as proof of a complete marketing stack.
Test one agreement, not just a pipeline screenshot
Use an advertiser buying two sizes across three issues, with an agency contact, a discount and different material deadlines. Ask each vendor to show the quote, acceptance, individual issue bookings, production handoff and invoice. Move one placement to a later issue and check which records update and which need retyping. Include one reader subscription so circulation is not confused with a recurring sales forecast. Have sales, production and finance judge the result.
Plan a bounded transition
Start with a small sample of advertiser organisations and contacts, agree field mapping and duplicates, and separately scope subscribers if needed. Historical deals, attachments, artwork and financial records need an explicit review; no complete-history migration or connector to this CRM is promised here. Compare the full first-year subscription, configuration, integration and training cost. RunMags plans are sized by legal entities and magazine brands: see current RunMags pricing.
Frequently asked questions
Can Pipedrive track magazine advertising deals?
Yes. Its sales product page retrieved on 2026-11-04 describes configurable pipelines and stages. Ask separately how issue-specific ad sizes, rate cards, artwork deadlines, the flatplan and advertiser invoices are connected in your configuration.
Does Pipedrive support subscriptions or recurring revenue?
Yes. The public pricing page retrieved on 2026-11-04 lists subscription and instalment product tracking and revenue forecasts from Growth. That does not establish reader circulation, issue entitlements or print fulfilment; those need a separate demonstration.
Is Pipedrive Lite €14 on monthly billing?
No. On the EUR public pricing page retrieved on 2026-11-04, Lite was €14 per seat/month with annual billing, charged as €168 per seat for the year. Monthly-billed Lite was €24 per seat/month. Prices exclude VAT; check the vendor's current quotation.
When is Pipedrive a better fit than RunMags?
When configurable deal tracking and sales follow-up are the main need and your publishing operations already work in other tools. RunMags is worth evaluating when re-entering the same signed agreement into production, subscriptions and invoicing is the problem.
