A Zoho CRM alternative for magazine publishers
Zoho CRM offers a broad configurable sales platform at published per-user prices. A publisher should give it a fair evaluation, especially if the business already runs other Zoho applications. The comparison turns on the publishing records and handoffs you need, not on a claim that a general CRM is incapable of holding orders or invoices.

What Zoho CRM says about its product
Zoho calls its product “The easiest AI CRM for growth.” Source: Zoho CRM homepage, retrieved . The pricing page says: “Local taxes (VAT, GST, etc.) will be charged in addition to the prices mentioned.” Source: Zoho CRM pricing, retrieved . The edition comparison describes workflow and assignment rules, cadences, reports and forecasting in Standard; CPQ pricing rules, process blueprints and inventory management in Professional; and territories, custom functions and portals in Enterprise. These are vendor claims, not independently tested results.

| Edition | EUR per user / month, annual selection | EUR per user / month, monthly selection |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | €14 | €20 |
| Professional | €23 | €35 |
| Enterprise | €40 | €50 |
| Ultimate | €52 | €65 |
These are the prices on Zoho's English pricing page with euros selected; Zoho can show other currencies and languages depending on where you visit from. Zoho also describes a free edition for up to three users. Local taxes are additional. The table concerns full organisation users: restricted team-user add-on licences are a different access type. No minimum paid-seat commitment or implementation-cost inclusion was established. CRM Plus/CX Platform and other Zoho applications are separate offerings, not automatically everything included in the CRM price.

Where RunMags works differently for magazine publishers
Zoho Professional's inventory management explicitly covers invoices, sales and purchase orders, products and vendors. It would be wrong to call Zoho a CRM with no inventory or invoicing. What the reviewed sources do not establish is a ready-made publishing model for issue-specific advertising availability, ad sizes, material deadlines, the flatplan and reader circulation. Ask which are configuration, which need another Zoho application and who maintains the integration.
A generic CRM does not know your magazine's issues, ad dimensions, rate cards, flatplan, material deadlines, reader subscriptions or issue-based invoicing until someone models and connects them. Without that work, staff can end up bolting on spreadsheets to carry the details after a deal is won. This is a workflow-design risk, not proof that the vendor cannot serve publishers.
RunMags connects advertiser and agency contacts, proposals and signed contracts to issue-specific ad bookings. Signed print bookings appear in the issue's flatplan; advertiser invoices come from the booked issues. Subscriptions and issue distribution lists sit alongside the customer records. Compare magazine advertising sales and bookings, the connected issue flatplan, magazine subscriptions and publisher invoicing. Advertiser invoices and credit notes sync to Fortnox, QuickBooks Online or Xero per legal entity; subscription invoices do not use that accounting sync. RunMags has no inventory holds or double-booking guard, no opportunity pipeline with win probability, and no email or calendar sync. Your team runs the subscription renewal batch; RunMags does not yet schedule automatic renewals or retry failed card payments.
When Zoho CRM may be the better fit
Zoho CRM may be the better fit for a cost-conscious team that wants configurable automation, quoting and cross-application workflows and is prepared to own setup. An organisation already using Zoho may gain more from extending that system than switching. Large sales teams and businesses prioritising marketing automation should compare the relevant editions and companion products honestly; RunMags is publishing-focused, not a replacement for every general-purpose CRM or marketing suite.
Test one agreement, not just a pipeline screenshot
Use an advertiser buying two sizes across three issues, with an agency contact, a discount and different material deadlines. Ask each vendor to show the quote, acceptance, individual issue bookings, production handoff and invoice. Move one placement to a later issue and check which records update and which need retyping. Include one reader subscription so circulation is not confused with a recurring sales forecast. Have sales, production and finance judge the result.
Plan a bounded transition
Start with a small sample of advertiser organisations and contacts, agree field mapping and duplicates, and separately scope subscribers if needed. Historical deals, attachments, artwork and financial records need an explicit review; no complete-history migration or connector to this CRM is promised here. Compare the full first-year subscription, configuration, integration and training cost. RunMags plans are sized by legal entities and magazine brands: see current RunMags pricing.
Frequently asked questions
Does Zoho CRM have orders, invoices and inventory?
Yes. The edition comparison retrieved on 2026-11-04 lists inventory management in Professional, including invoices, sales and purchase orders, products and vendors. That does not by itself verify issue-specific ad-space availability, flatplanning or circulation fulfilment.
Is Zoho CRM free for a small magazine team?
Zoho describes a free edition for up to three users. The EUR pricing page retrieved on 2026-11-04 also lists paid editions from Standard at €14 per full user/month on the annual selection, or €20 on the monthly selection, plus local taxes. Match required features to the edition rather than assuming the free tier contains them.
Why evaluate RunMags if I can customise Zoho CRM?
Compare the work needed to connect an advertiser agreement to the actual magazine issues, production plan and invoice. RunMags holds that publishing workflow with subscriptions on the customer record; a Zoho-based design may still be a better investment if your team already owns its configuration and integrations.
Does the Zoho CRM price include every Zoho application?
No. Other Zoho applications and CRM Plus/CX Platform are separate offerings. The sources retrieved on 2026-11-04 do not establish an all-in publisher implementation price; ask for the exact products, user licence types and integration scope.
